Pneumatic ball valves
The ball valve consists of a handle on a shaft attached to a metal ball with a
hole in it. When the handle is turned in the water flow direction, the hole is
covered up, preventing the flow of water through the valve.
1 Cut only enough
so the pipe can fit into the valve all the way. If you cut the pipe to the
length of the ball valve, there will not be enough pipe to fit into the ends of
the valve. Measure only the inside section of the ball valve to determine the
amount of pipe to cut.
2 Use emery cloth or fine steel wool to clean both the
outside ends of the pipes and the insides of both ends of the ball valve. Clean
the pipe ends and insides of the ball valve until they are shiny.
3 Rub both
of the inside ends of the Stainless Steel Ball Valve and both of the outside of the pipe with flux where you want the
solder to adhere.
4 Put the parts together and rotate to be sure the entire
surface to be soldered is coated with the flux.
5 Make sure to position the
ball valve so that the handle can move in a complete open or close position
without bumping into a beam, another pipe or other obstruction.
6 Heat the
area where the ball valve overlaps the pipe until the flux begins to bubble. Do
one side at a time.
7 Touch the end of the solder to the end of the ball
valve and work all the way around the pipe. Continue applying the solder until
there is a bead that remains uniformly around the edge of the ball valve.
8
Allow to cool slightly and wipe the excess flux off with a rag while the pipe is
still very warm.
