Pre-Installation Inspection Points for Fully Welded Ball Valves and Flow Control Valves

2026-03-30

After correct valve selection, standardized inspection and installation are essential to ensure performance and service life. For fully welded ball valves and balancing valves, the following key inspection and preparation work should be carried out before installation:The main Ball valve product names of China Ball valve Network include:Flange Ammonia Ball Valve,Flange Copper Ball Valve,Flange Fluorine-lined Ball Valve,Forged Brass Ball Valve (Butterfly Handle Type),Forged Steel Anti-sulfur Fixed Ball Valve,GB/ANSI Three-way Ball Valve

I. Receiving Inspection

Upon receiving the valve, first verify the specification and model to ensure accuracy. Inspect the valve body for any damage, paying particular attention to whether the stem has been bent during transportation. Manually operate the valve to check for smooth opening and closing and to confirm the stem is not misaligned.

II. Pre-Installation CleaningBall Valves

1. Remove debris from inside the valve: Before installation, clean any debris from inside the valve to prevent impurities from affecting sealing or clogging the flow path.

2. Clean the pipeline: The pipeline connected to the valve should be blown clean with compressed air to remove iron oxide scale, sediment, welding slag, and other debris, avoiding damage to sealing surfaces or blockage of small-diameter valves.Ball Valve Technology

III. Installation Operation Specifications

1. Lifting precautions: When lifting the valve, slings should be attached to the flanges, not to the handwheel or stem, to avoid damaging these components.About Ball Valve

2. Threaded valve installation: When installing threaded balancing valves, sealing filler (such as PTFE tape) should be wrapped around the pipe threads and should not enter the valve body, as accumulation inside could affect medium flow.

3. Flanged valve installation: When installing flanged fully welded ball valves or flanged flow control valves, tighten bolts symmetrically and evenly, ensuring the valve flange and pipe flange are parallel with appropriate clearance to prevent excessive stress on the valve that could lead to cracking. Special attention should be paid to valves made of brittle materials or with lower strength.

4. Welded valve installation: For valves requiring welding to the pipeline (such as one-piece fully welded ball valves), first tack weld to secure the position, then fully open the valve, and finally complete the welding.

IV. Insulation and Cold Preservation

Depending on production requirements, some valves need additional insulation or cold preservation measures. If excessive temperature drop of the medium would affect production efficiency or cause valve freezing, insulation or heat tracing should be applied. If exposed valves lead to frost formation or negatively impact production, cold preservation is required.

Standardized inspection and installation effectively extend valve service life and ensure safe, stable system operation.
